Illinois farmers advocate for legislative fix to Prop 12

California’s Proposition 12 will likely lead to increased costs for farmers, higher pork prices for consumers and impact international trade and market access. Christina Weller, an attorney who practices agribusiness law in Stephenson County, and Illinois pork producers outlined their concerns in meetings with Illinois members of Congress. “One solution is having USDA be the regulator instead of the states,” Weller said.
