As a farmer, Krista Swanson knows firsthand how demand affects the bottom line. Swanson and her husband, Brett, are fifth-generation farmers who have managed their Knox County farm since 2012. She’s taking her experiences from the farm, and as former research specialist for the University of Illinois Gardner Agricultural Policy Program, to her new position as lead economist for the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA). “I’m looking forward to working on behalf of NCGA and serving the corn industry,” she said.
